This toy operates by snail cam. It is the main part of the mechanical toy. The leg of the character will step up when the cam rotates. It gives the appearance of a man stomping.

Snail / Drop Cam
I am going to introduce snail drop cam. While eccentric, heart shaped and pear shaped cams allow a slow rise and fall in the follower, the drop or fall of the follower must be sudden for a snail drop cam. Rotating in a clockwise direction might lead to the entire mechanism jamming as the snail cam rotates in an anticlockwise direction. The vertical centre line of the snail cam drop is positioned slightly to the left of the slide to ensure the rotation smoothness.

Toy operated by Eccentric Cam
This caterpillar cam toy is operated by eccentric cam. The eccentric cam is fixed on to the shaft and it will rotate when the handle is turned. The cam followers rise and fall when the handle is turned.

Today I am going to introduce a new type of cam called eccentric cam. It rises and falls at a constant rate by rotating the flat follower upwards and drop downwards. It is the easiest cam to make yet it is very useful.

Toy operated by drop cam
Today I am going to introduce a cam toy which operates on drop cam. It is a very simple cam toy. It operates by convert rotary motion to reciprocal motion which causes the hen to bend down and up.
