Quick Return Crank Mechanism




When a reciprocate motion is needed, a quick return crank mechanism will be used to convert rotary motion. The stick will rotate left to right when the disc rotate.



Shaping Machine




It is used when a large amount of metal has to be removed. The machine will move forwards and backwards pushing the cutting tool as the disc rotates.



Crank and Slider Mechanism



When the cam rotates, the rod connected to it will push the slider into the tube and out of the tube as the cam is an eccentric cam.
Rachet Mechanism


A pawl will follow the wheel when it is turn. The rachet can only rotate anticlockwise. It will get stuck when it rotate clockwise.

A machine operated by Box Cam

This machine cuts slots in steel parts of the car engines. The follower lifts the guard after machining. A groove cut is similar to the box cam.

Today I am going to introduce a new type of cam, the box cam. The groove is cut into an unusual shape like an oval to a particular depth. The follower follows the path of the groove when the disc rotates.It is used in some types of machines as as the bench drilling machine.

Cam Toy operated by Swash Plate Cam



This is a mechanism toy operated by the swash plate cam. The two roller followers rise and fall as the swash plate cam rotate causing the puppet to wave its arms. There are 3 types of cams left, the box cam, flat plate cam and the cylindrical cams.

Today I am going to introduced another type of cam, the swash plate cam. A shaft rotates around the a disc that is set at an angle so the disc will rotate when the follower moves up and down.Each follower has a roller to ensure a smooth movement.
