Snail / Drop Cam
I am going to introduce snail drop cam. While eccentric, heart shaped and pear shaped cams allow a slow rise and fall in the follower, the drop or fall of the follower must be sudden for a snail drop cam. Rotating in a clockwise direction might lead to the entire mechanism jamming as the snail cam rotates in an anticlockwise direction. The vertical centre line of the snail cam drop is positioned slightly to the left of the slide to ensure the rotation smoothness.
